Moore Park progress31 July 2017
More than 2650 metres of track is now in place at Moore Park – over a quarter of the current total of 8,836 metres that has been installed across the project. Excellent progress is being made in this area, with the installation of track between Lang Road and Alison Road, and on Alison Road between Anzac Parade and Darley Road.
Excavation of the tunnel under Anzac Parade began in July. With the tunnel walls and roof in place under the roadway, work has now started to remove the soil from the tunnel. This follows work in the western section of Moore Park to construct the tunnel using the ‘cut and cover’ method, where we excavated and then built the tunnel base, walls and roof. Construction of the western portal structure is now complete.
Further south, some changes will be made to the pedestrian and cyclist shared path, allowing final work on the track across Alison Road which connects the light rail alignment to the Randwick Stabling Yard. Changes to the shared path will also be required on Anzac Parade, near the intersection with Alison Road, to allow significant storm water work to be carried out. The shared path will be closed for about three days in early August. Detours will be in place and traffic management will be in place. Please follow signage.
During July, work took place at the intersection of Anzac Parade and Lang Road, requiring overnight closures of the intersection. The discovery of some unexpected utilities at this intersection means further work is now required during August 2017. Impacted stakeholders will be notified in advance of the work taking place.
