Work continues to complete track across major CBD intersections over the long weekend28 September 2018
Major construction work on the CBD and South East Light Rail is progressing this long weekend at the Bathurst and George Street intersection, and Market and George Street intersection.
“While many Sydneysiders take advantage of a long weekend and leave the city construction crews will be ready to take advantage of the quieter period,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
“This weekend there will be a complete closure of Bathurst Street so ALTRAC Light Rail can commence track installation and a complete closure of Market Street to do finishing works including installing waterproofing and paving.
“Around 97 percent of track has been installed across the alignment with track installed at every intersection outside the CBD.
“Once this is done and finishing works completed, ALTRAC have advised barriers will be reduced or removed altogether.”
The long weekend work will include:
- Market Street – closed from Elizabeth to York Streets
- Bathurst Street – closed from Kent to Pitt Streets
- George Street – closed between Goulburn and Grosvenor Streets.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow plenty of extra travel time, follow signage and drive to conditions.
