Surry Hills progress3 September 2017
An important milestone was reached in Surry Hills during August, with all track now installed in Zone 15, Devonshire Street between Chalmers and Elizabeth Street.
This is a great achievement and means that crews can now get on with the finishing work, including resurfacing the roadway, replacing kerbs and pavements and installing smart poles and street furniture.
Devonshire Street will be closed to traffic between Marlborough and Crown Streets for eight weeks from 18 August 2017, to enable ongoing intersection works to be carried out. In Zone 16, Devonshire Street between Elizabeth and Steel Street, the compound will switch from the southern side of the road to the northern side. One lane of eastbound traffic will be maintained.
Work to provide 90 degree angled parking in Nobbs Lane has started in Zone 19. This parking will provide replacement parking for the Langton Centre.
ALTRAC Light Rail will be hosting a booth at the Surry Hills Festival in Ward Park on Saturday 23 September. Drop by to speak to the project team about construction in your local area and hear more about the light rail project.
