Randwick construction update

3 September 2017

We welcomed the first new vehicle for the CBD and South East Light Rail on 1 August 2017, as it arrived at the Randwick Stabling Yard. The new vehicle is one of 60 that will operate on the alignment, in 30 coupled sets, and the majority of vehicles will be housed at this stabling yard.

All track is now in place on Alison Road, between Anzac Parade and Wansey Road. Construction of the Wansey Road stop is also well underway in Zone 24, between Darley and Wansey Roads, with the stop platforms now in place. The stops canopy work will commence shortly.

Testing and commissioning of the light rail systems will get underway in the coming months, starting in the area between Alison Road, the Randwick Stabling Yard, and Anzac Parade between Lang Road and Alison Road. More information will soon be provided to the community about this important phase of the project.

The rail crossing at Eurimbla Street is almost complete, and track slab construction will begin on High Street, outside the Prince of Wales Hospital, over the coming months. Existing overhead wires and street lights will be relocated to enable the installation of poles on High Street.

Work is continuing on the underground substation at High Cross Park, with construction of the concrete structure underway.
