Preparing for a busy 2017 in Surry Hills

20 December 2016

Critical work has been taking place in Surry Hills, in preparation for construction to start in more Devonshire Street zones in 2017.

To minimise community impact and to reduce the need for extended periods of noisy night work, work at the intersection of Devonshire and Riley streets was accelerated and completed in one 56-hour intersection closure, instead of two weeks of night works.

Work has also been taking place during December on Devonshire Street, between Elizabeth and Waterloo streets, involving the isolation of a Sydney Trains electrical cable. This work was essential before construction starts in this section of the road next year.

In 2017 we will see work starting in the remaining construction zones on Devonshire Street, between Elizabeth and Bourke streets. The community will receive notification prior to work starting in these zones.
