Construction comes to Chinatown27 September 2016
Preparations are now underway for work to start in three new construction zones in the CBD during October 2016. Work will begin in zones 9, 10 and 11 on George Street, between Liverpool Street and Rawson Place, from 14 October 2016.
As construction moves into Chinatown, Transport for NSW is working to support local businesses and activate the area: nearly 100 brightly coloured monkeys are now hanging out along George Street in Haymarket, lighting up the area and helping to attract visitors.
Look out for our monkeys as you visit, shop and eat in the Haymarket area, supporting our local businesses during light rail construction.
With this construction starting, ALTRAC Light Rail will now be working in all of the George Street construction zones and the transformation of the CBD is well underway.
Intersection work is ongoing in the CBD, with work typically taking place in two intersections each weekend. For the latest information about construction work see our interactive map.
