Bus changes as major construction starts in Kingsford

18 August 2016

Bus customers are reminded that changes to bus stops and services in parts of Kingsford, Kensington and Surry Hills come into place from 20 August as CBD and South East Light Rail major construction starts in Kingsford.

Staff will be on hand at all affected bus stops to help customers find their new stop and affected stops will be clearly marked.

The changes have been introduced to help traffic flow, with Anzac Parade progressively being reduced from six lanes to four to cater for light rail.

Six bus stops will close in Kingsford and Kensington, with the aim of keeping buses and general traffic moving without delay during the morning and afternoon peaks.

A further six bus stops along Cleveland Street in Surry Hills will also close due to low patronage and to simplify the bus network.

Bus customers are advised to plan their trip in advance at Transport Info and both commuters and drivers are encouraged to allow plenty of travel time.

The 12-kilometre light rail route from Circular Quay to Randwick and Kingsford is expected to be complete and operating by early 2019.
