CBD and South East Light Rail

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES

September 2014

The CBD and South East Light Rail (CSELR) is a $1.6 billion infrastructure project that will transform Sydney.

It will provide a fast, reliable public transport service from Circular Quay to Kingsford and Randwick via Surry Hills.

The light rail project is part of an integrated transport solution that will improve public transport in the south east, manage future growth, plan for urban renewal and reduce congestion in the CBD.

Extended hours of works at Tramway Oval - 16 September to 2 October 2014

Laing O’Rourke has been awarded the Early Works Managing Contract to deliver early works for the new light rail network at Moore Park.  Between 16 September and 2 October 2014, the construction hours at the Tramway Oval will extend to be 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

While work may not necessarily take place during all of the proposed the extended hours of work, activities will continue on Monday to Friday and Saturdays during standard construction hours.

Work Activities

  • Drainage and irrigation works – including minor earthworks and alterations to existing Tramway oval drainage and irrigation network.  The work involves excavation, fill and transportation of material to and from the worksite.
  • Reinstatement – make good disturbed ground areas with a vibratory roller.

How will it affect me?

You may experience light spill from night works and noise or dust from the equipment used during these activities. Some noisy activities will cease at 10pm, and every effort will be made to minimise the impact while work is undertaken.  Where required, excavation activities are watered down for dust suppression and machinery is switched off when not in use to minimise disturbance.

Equipment and vehicles at the worksite may include; small excavators, day makers, equipment, water cart, amenities truck and traffic control vehicles. Work and staff vehicles will be parked within the allocated and approved work zone.

Traffic management will be in place to redirect pedestrians and motorists, as required. Vehicle access to designated car parking areas will be maintained during works.
